The Presidential Team
The upcoming presidential election in November is crucial to all educators as our government must promote educational reform and increase accountability in teaching and learning. The ticket of Obama/Biden would be strong advocates for educators, schools and the children of this great nation. Support and a vote for this team in November is a vote for Education. The Obama/Biden team embraces the kind of education reform that shows education is a shared responsibility and that holds everyone accountable to improve teaching and learning. They set a positive tone about how to improve our schools, respect our teachers and work together to make sure our nation’s students get the world-class education they deserve.

Record of Advocacy: Obama has been a leader on educational issues throughout his career. In the Illinois State Senate, Obama was a leader on early childhood education, helping create the state's Early Learning Council. In the U.S. Senate, Obama has been a leader in working to make college more affordable. His very first bill sought to increase the maximum Pell Grant award to $5,100. As a member of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee, Obama helped pass legislation to achieve that goal in the recent improvements to the Higher Education Act.
