On Jan. 26, 2005, the ESL teachers at River Ave. Elementary School hosted a special parent workshop for all the families of English Language Learners in the River Ave. school program. Teachers Anne Logan and Lisa Cervera organized workshops with various themes for the parents, while their children participated in many fun activities. A special workshop, given by the staff of the Patchogue-Medford Public Library, highlighted and explored all the resources available for bilingual parents in the Patchogue-Medford community.

At the conclusion of the workshops, both parents and students enjoyed refreshments together, along with many teachers from River Ave. school that were lending a hand to help out during the evening. More than 60 parents, along with many more children, attended this informative and exciting program.

Many thanks go to all who participated especially teachers Mrs. Velez, Mrs. Mena, Mrs. Read, Mrs. Weymann, Mrs. Ida, Mr. Peterson, Mr. Ohlsen and librarian, Ray Arroyo. Everyone enjoyed this fun evening as you can see in the following photos.
